
Lancers Secure Five Top-12 Finishes at CSUB Sprint Classic

BAKERSFIELD – Twelve top-five swims highlighted California Baptist University's second meet of the season at the CSU Bakersfield Sprint Classic on Friday afternoon.
Jacob Leahy, Sean Foster, Josh Walters, and Robert Moseley led the Lancers at CSU Bakersfield's John S. Hillman Memorial Aquatic Center. CBU totaled 547.1 points, while UC Santa Barbara finished first (597.3), and host CSUB took second (589.2).
CBU will take part in the Roadrunner Invite at CSU Bakersfield, while its divers will make their season debut at the Lancer Diving Invite at the Lancer Aquatics Center on Saturday. Both events begin at 10 a.m.
Leahy, Foster, Walters, and Matthew Niculae won the 200-yard medley relay in one minute, 31.39 seconds. It helped continue a hot start to the season for Leahy, who added a win in the 50 free and a runner-up finish in the 50 butterfly before the day was done.
Leahy took second in the 50 fly in 22.19 seconds and won the 50 free in 21.02. He actually swam the 50 free faster at 20.68 on the leadoff leg of the 200-free relay. It was just .03 of a second off his CBU personal best of 20.65, which ranks sixth in CBU's history.

CBU took fourth in the 200-free relay (1:24.79), with Walters, Colton Babcock, and Kyle White swimming with Leahy. The Lancers' team Moseley, Niculae, Adityastha Wratsangka, and Babcock took third in the 800-free relay (7:00.17).
Foster added CBU's fourth top-two swim in the 50 breaststroke, with a time of 26.64. He also took fourth in the 100 individual medley (53.27).
Three Lancers secured top-five spots in the 50 back, with Walters (24.09), Moseley (24.14), and Trent Itow (24.38) finishing back-to-back-to-back from third through fifth. Moseley also took fourth in the 400 IM (4:05.94), while Walters finished fifth in the 50 fly (22.71).
