Abreu Collects 1,000th Dig at GCU

Abreu led the Lancers with 21 digs in four sets in the GCU Arena, but the Lopes won 16-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-16. It gives Abreu 1,018 digs in her CBU career, as she becomes just the 10th Lancer and second in the NCAA era to reach the 1,000-dig milestone. She's done it in just two shorts seasons after she transferred in as a junior.

Grand Canyon continues its pursuit of a runner-up finish in the Western Athletic Conference, as it ranks second in the league with 22-5, 12-3 conference records. CBU moves to 12-5, 6-8 on the year, with three regular-season matches left.

The Lancers then play their final three matches in Riverside. First, they host Utah Valley for Senior Day on Saturday at 1 p.m. and then conclude their home season against Seattle U on Sunday at 2 p.m. The regular-season finale will be played at UC Riverside on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m.

Sydney Marks and Ellie Voss led the offense with 12 kills each for the Lancers on Monday. Voss hit .526 (12-219) and also had a team-high three blocks. Hana Okuhara finished with 22 assists and 10 digs, while Cassidy Dennison nearly completed a double-double, with nine kills and 10 digs.

Christine Graf added eight kills, and Elizabeth Gilley provided a bit of everything with 11 digs, two aces, two kills and a block.

CBU got out to a great start at Grand Canyon, with a 25-16 win in set one. The Lancers sided out at 64 percent (11-17) and hit .368 (18-4-38) in the first game. They got six kills from Dennison, four from Marks and three each from Graf and Yagoda Jedrzejczak in the opener.
The Lancers broke a 9-9 tie with an 11-1 run to go up 20-10 en route to the win. Three Dennison kills, a kill and block from Jedrzejczak and aces from Gilley and Abreu highlighted the run.
