Jedrzejczak Makes History in CBU's Sweep

RIVERSIDE – Yagoda Jedrzejczak became California Baptist University's new career NCAA-era leader in blocks in the Lancers' 25-10, 25-14, 25-14 sweep of Chicago State on Saturday.
CBU totaled nine blocks in the match, which was the most the team has had in a three-set match this year. Jedrzejczak had a hand in eight of those blocks.
It gives her 326 in her career, which is a new NCAA-era record ranks fifth all time for CBU. Jessica Harris, a 2016, graduate previously held that honor with 321. Jedrzejczak ranks sixth all-time with a 1.04 blocks per set average. She's done it all in just three seasons after transferring to CBU as a sophomore from Regis University.
The Lancers' defense held Chicago State to a negative .040 hitting percentage (20-24-99), with advantages of 9-2 in blocks and 42-34 in digs. Offensively, CBU posted the eighth highest hitting percentage in the program's NCAA-era history at .395 (39-7-81) and sided out at a 67.5 clip.
Christine Graf, Elizabeth Gilley and Cassidy Dennison led the offense with eight kills each. Dennison had 10 digs, two aces and three blocks, as well, while Gilley added six digs, a block and an ace and Graf chipped in three digs and two blocks.
Natalie Zimmerer logged 17 assists and seven digs, while splitting time at setter with Hana Okuhara (13 assists). Sydney Marks finished with seven kills on an even .500 hitting percentage (7-1-12) and three blocks.
CBU improves to 11-13 and 5-6 in the Western Athletic Conference with the win. Chicago State drops to 4-22, 0-12. The Lancers will host Kansas City for a crucial league test on Monday at 7 p.m. in the Van Dyne Gym. The Roos currently rank third in the WAC with a 12-9, 8-3 record.
