Sweep Helps Lancers Clean Up to 9-0

The 9-0 Lancers received a dominant pitching performance from Andrew Bash and spectacular day at the plate from Luke Navigato. Ohio falls to 1-6 on the year, while CBU turns its attention to UC Riverside for a three-game series Friday through Sunday.
The Highlanders host games one and three at the Riverside Sports Complex on Friday and Sunday at 6 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively. The Lancers host the middle game at Totman Stadium Saturday at 4 p.m. with a scheduled postgame fireworks show presented by Altura Credit Union, Magnolia Heating & Cooling and The Press-Enterprise.
Bash was perfect through the first 11 batters on Sunday. He allowed just two hits, one run and struck out six over the first 6.2 innings.

Angelo Capolupo also went 2-for-4 with two runs scored in the game, while Harrison Spohn had a two-run homer to get the offense started in the bottom of the first.
The Lancers built on their early momentum with another run in the bottom of the second. Rory Smith and Damon Keith started the inning with a double and single, respectively. Navigato plated Smith with a single through the left side to give CBU a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second.CBU wastes little time in getting on the board. Three hits and an error led CBU to three more runs and a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth. Jeff Bruyntjens led things with a double and an error brought the Lancers' fourth run home. A Capolupo single put two runners aboard, and Navigato scored two runners with a double off the fence in left.
Navigato notched his fourth RBI with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth, while a Capolupo single and Ohio error led to CBU's eighth run in the inning.👏👏👏
