Lancers Conclude Split-Squad Race Week

HAYWARD/PALO ALTO, Calif. – Another record fell in the California Baptist University record books on Friday night, as CBU concluded a split-squad race week on Friday with the Stanford Invitational and San Francisco State's Mike Fanelli Track Classic.
As she has all season, Anett Somogyi put on an impressive performance at the Stanford Invitational. Somogyi ran the 10,000 meter in 34 minutes, 6.91 seconds to demolish the one-day-old school record set by teammate Anna Mate last night at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic. The reigning cross country champion in the Western Athletic Conference now holds school records in the 3,000 and 10,000 meter in addition to holding the second best time in the 5,000 meter. Somogyi came in 12th amongst a talented group of runners.
Emilie Renaud finished in 12th place in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the Stanford Invite with a time of 10:24.16 in her first collegiate attempt at the event.
In men's competition at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic, Dennis Messmer ran the 5K in 14:44.34 to demolish his previous personal best of 15:11.89. Messmer placed 15th in his section and 72nd in the 226-runner field.
The Lancer track team returns to action on April 6th to compete at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational.
