RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Five former Lancers were inducted into the California Baptist University Athletics Hall of Fame at the 2019 CBU Senior Banquet on Sunday night.
Women's volleyball's Ingrid Carmona, Kylee Kruetziger (Nicassio) of women's soccer, baseball's Matt Marnati, Austen Ramer of men's water polo and women's golf's Nathalie Silva were inducted into the Hall of Fame at the CBU Events Center after stellar careers with the Lancers.
Those five individuals bring CBU's Hall of Fame to a total of 77 legendary Lancers.
"This group of outstanding Lancers helped us establish our programs as leaders nationally," Director of Athletics Dr. Micah Parker said. "They were great leaders on their teams and continue to be excellent in their life after athletics."
Carmona was a four-time, first-team All-American and all-conference honoree at CBU and made two national all-tournament teams. Just about every time the ball was set from 2008 to 2012, there was no secret it was going to her. She was still just about unstoppable from CBU women's volleyball and re-wrote the record book in her time as a Lancer.
The 2011 PacWest Newcomer of the Year ranks first in Lancer history with 1,890 kills and 4,728 attacks. Her 4.05 kills per set rank fifth, along with her 467 sets played. She also ranked eighth with 1,098 digs and 10th with 119 career aces.
CBU also enjoyed tremendous team success with Carmona on the court. The Lancers qualified for the national quarterfinals all four years, reaching the NAIA semifinals when she was a freshman in 2008 and winning the National Christian College Athletic Association title with her as a senior in 2012.
Kruetziger, who was Kylee Nicassio over her CBU career prior to her marriage, is the best goal scorer in the history of CBU women's soccer. Her 49 goals and 317 shots are both atop the Lancers' career record books, while she ranks second with 119 points and third with 10 multi-goal games. Her 21 assists rank 10th all-time, while her eight games with a goal and an assist rank fifth.
The Alta Loma native once scored four goals in a game and holds the single-season record for shots in a season with 108. Those stats helped her earn two NAIA All-American awards in her career. She was also a three-time all-conference selection, with two accolades from the Golden State Athletic Conference and another from the PacWest, including the 2011 Newcomer of the Year distinction.
Marnati may very well have been the most feared hitter to wear a Lancer uniform, and still holds program records with 237 games played, 867 at-bats, 285 career hits and 185 runs are also team bests to this day. He ranks second with 168 runs batted in, third with 56 stolen bases and fourth with 388 total bases.
The Yucaipa native earned three all-conference awards, including the 2012 PacWest Player of the Year award. He was also named a first-team pick in the West Region and as an All-American as a junior. The Lancers won four-straight conference championships and two NCCAA titles with Marnati in 2012-13.
Despite being a goalie, Ramer managed to make his presence felt all over the pool in his four years with CBU men's water polo. The 2012 first-team All-American still ranks second in program history with 1,129 career saves and with 41 games with 10 or more saves. He anchored the best defenses in Lancer history from 2009 to 2012, as his teams held opponents to a season-low 229 goals in 2009 and to a season-low average of 6.63 goals a game in 2010.
Ramer wasn't content to just sit back and let the ball come to him, though, as he ranks first among all Lancer goalies with 412 steals and 152 assists. He ranks first and second in CBU's single-season history among keepers when it comes to assists and steals, as well. He had seven games with at least six steals, including a nine-steal performance.
Silva is the first individual national champion in the history of CBU women's golf. She led the Lancers to three top-three finishes nationally, including the NAIA championship in 2011, and had three top-five individual finishes nationally.
The Brazil native was a two-time All-American and national all-tournament selection, and was a first-team All-PacWest pick as a senior in 2014. She ranks third in program history with five individual wins, 23 top-10 finishes and 16 top-five performances. She also ranks in the top-10 with a 77.24 scoring average, 78 rounds played and eight par-or-better rounds.
