RIVERSIDE --- Shortstop Chris Ramirez has been tabbed the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Player of the Week for the second time this season. Ramirez lit up the stat sheet last week, recording 14 hits across CBU's 4-0 week.
The Lancers were perfect last week, including a three-game sweep of Utah Valley in Orem. CBU also picked up a win over crosstown rival UC Riverside to secure a season sweep of the Highlanders.
Ramirez went 3-for-4 in last week's Crosstown Showdown. He drove in a run on a sixth inning double and also scored a pair.
In the sweep of Utah Valley, Ramirez has the hardest out on the field as he finished 11-for-16, highlighted by a 6-for-6 day at the plate in Saturday's 14-8 win. Ramirez opened the series with a two home run day on Friday, and added his third homer of the series on Saturday. He added doubles on both days he finished a triple shy of the cycle.
Ramirez is batting .394 this season with seven home runs and 41 RBI.
The Lancers enter this week, their final week of conference action, one game shy of Tarleton State for first place. CBU will host Sacramento State over the weekend at Totman Stadium. CBU will open the week on Tuesday with a visit to CSUN.
