Blockers Stand Tall in CBU's WAC Opener

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – California Baptist University's blockers came to play in the Lancers' Western Athletic Conference opener at Kansas City on Saturday. Yagoda Jedrzejczak led the way with five blocks for the Lancers.
The Roos still managed to come away with a three-set win (25-20, 25-20, 25-18), despite CBU enjoying a 7-5 advantage in blocks. Kansas City was projected to finish third in the WAC in the conference's preseason poll and is has now won five-straight matches to improve to 6-6.
Natalie Zimmerer finished with 25 assists, six digs and two blocks and Nicole Abreu had a team-high 10 digs. Sydney Marks had a team-high nine kills. Christine Graf and Megan Sester had seven kills each, while Sester added two blocks.
CBU continues WAC play at Chicago State on Monday at 5 p.m. Pacific. The Lancers will then return to the Van Dyne Gym to host The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and New Mexico State.
