
Lancers Climb Two Spots in Final Round

USAFA, Colo. --- The California Baptist University men's golf team closed out the final round of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational on a high note Sunday, as the Lancers moved up two spots to finish 16th.
Colorado claimed the tournament victory on the final day with an even-par 288 team score. Colorado shot a 10-under-par 854 team score to finish the three-day tournament with a five-stroke lead over the field.
Northern Colorado jumped up one spot to finish in second with a 5-under-par 859, while UC Davis climbed two spots to complete the podium in third with a 3-under-par 861.
Justin Cross went wire-to-wire as the Lancers' low man during the three days with a 73-77-76=226 to place tied for 63rd.
Ryan Monsalve and Daeyoung Kim weren't too far behind Cross, shooting a 227 final to finish T-65th. Monsalve made the biggest jump for the Lancers in the third round, moving up 19 spots with an even-par on the day.
John Hayes put together his best round in the final day with a 76 to card a 230 and place T-81st. Michael Sarro completed his first collegiate tournament with a 78-78-82=238 to take T-94th.
Jack Castiglia and Coby Welch of Northern Colorado and Jake Vincent of Southern Utah all finished in a three-way tie for first with a 7-under-par 209.
The Lancers will be back on the course at the Nick Watney Invitational on Sept. 30-Oct. 1 in Fresno, Calif., at the Fort Washington Country Club.
