
MBB Preview: Lancers Reach First Leg of WAC Play

RIVERSIDE --- California Baptist will complete its first leg of the Western Athletic Conference schedule this week, as the Lancers hit the road to take on Utah Valley on Jan. 29 and Seattle U on Feb. 1.
The Lancers split last week's home games against Chicago State (W, 85-53) and Kansas City (L, 57-67). CBU is currently in a tie for second with CSU Bakersfield at 4-2 in the WAC.

Utah Valley is under new guidance this year after the university announced Mark Madsen as the new head men's basketball coach in April 2019. The Wolverines are currently 9-13 on the season and 3-4 in WAC play.
Notables:
- The Wolverines have a lot of talent across the board, as they have four players averaging double figures on the season.
- Brandon Averette is the only player averaging double figures while playing and starting in all 22 games.
- UVU is eighth when it comes to points per game in the conference (66.4) while allowing the fifth-most points (70.1).
- As of Jan. 27, the Wolverines rank sixth in the nation in total blocks at 122 on the year.
- Emmanuel Olojakpoke ranks sixth in the nation with 63 blocks.
- UVU has played 12 games this season that have been decided by six points or less.

As for Saturday's contest, Seattle U is currently 11-11 on the season and 4-3 in the WAC. The Redhawks will have a full week off before they host CBU.
