OREM --- California Baptist University's men's basketball team recorded its third straight Western Athletic Conference road win on Wednesday, as the Lancers beat Utah Valley in the UCCU Center, 65-61.
CBU is now 15-6 on the season and 5-2 in the WAC to take sole possession of second place in the standings. Utah Valley falls to 9-14 and 3-5 in the WAC.
De'jon Davis came up big for the Lancers all night, finishing with 19 points, 17 rebounds, and two blocks. He breaks his previous career-best of 16 rebounds set against Montana State University - Billings on Nov. 11, 2016.
Brandon Boyd and Ferron Flavors Jr. were the final Lancers in double figures, as they finished with 14 and 11 points, respectively.
Although it came down to the wire, the Lancers never relinquished the lead the entire game. CBU went on to hold the lead for 37 minutes and some change, while the other two minutes were spent tied.
An energized Lancer team opened the game out to a 9-4 lead after Milan Acquaah found Flavors for the three.

The Lancers went on to hold a two-possession lead for the majority of the half.
Flavors started to catch fire from deep, as he knocked down back-to-back triples to give the Lancers their largest lead at the 2:20 mark, 34-22.

Tre Armstrong finished off the 8-0 run on a driving layup, and the Lancers went into the break up by 14, 38-24.
Coming out of the break, Zach Pirog continued the Lancers' run with a hook shot inside the paint. That would be the last Lancer basket until the 14:37 mark, though, as the Wolverines chipped away at the deficit with 15 straight points.
Flavors ended UVU's 15-0 run with a beautiful bank shot on the left side of the elbow.

CBU kept Utah Valley at arm's length for the next 11 minutes, but the Wolverines sparked another run. UVU scored six straight points from 3:13 to :56 to bring the game within two, 63-61, and a timeout was called.
With 25 seconds left on the game clock, the Wolverines had the ball to either tie or make the go-ahead basket. Davis and Flavors stepped up on a driving TJ Washington that resulted in a bad pass in the middle of the paint. Reed Nottage dove at the ball and was awarded the held ball, which gave the Lancers possession with nine seconds on the clock.

Acquaah iced the game on the free-throw line after being fouled immediately on the inbounds pass. A desperation three was taken by Washington, but Acquaah came up big on the defensive end, blocking the shot to end the game.
The Lancers will make their way to Seattle to complete their road trip against Seattle U on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 1 p.m.
