ANAHEIM --- For the ninth straight year, California Baptist University's cheer team took home the United Spirit Association Collegiate Championship.
The USA Collegiate Championships were held in the Anaheim Convention Center with two days of competition from Feb. 15-16.
The Lancers won the All-Girls Four-Year College Division after taking an 8.5 point lead after the first day. During the preliminary round, the Lancers recorded 94.5 points to sit in first over Yokohama City University (86.0), San Francisco State (83.3), and CSU Dominguez Hills (81.4).
The final score is comprised of 30 percent of the day one score, with 70 percent coming from day two. The Lancers continued their domination in the final round, finishing with 94.71 points to record their ninth straight title at the USA Collegiate Championships. CBU executed both days with zero deduction routines.
"I am incredibly proud of the team's performance this weekend," said head coach Olivia Miller. "Being able to execute two zero deduction routines this early in the year puts us in a great position to start our competition season."
The Lancers will now turn their attention to the NCA Nationals in Daytona Beach, Fla., where they will look to win their eighth straight title. The NCA Nationals will take place from April 7-11.
