BAKERSFIELD – Three-straight wins highlighted California Baptist University's final dual of the season at CSU Bakersfield on Friday night.
The Lancers' upper weights led the way, with
Garrett Strang,
Arick Lopez and
Zach Schrader winning the respective 184, 197 and heavyweight matches. CBU will conclude the season at the 2020 National Collegiate Open on March 1, as it ends the year with a 3-10 dual record, while the Roadrunners improve to 7-6 on their Senior Night.
It secured win number 20 for Schrader, as he took over the team lead for wins this season and updated the program record for wins in a single season in the NCAA Division I era.
Strang won his 19
th match of the year by one point, 6-5, thanks to a first-period takedown and two in the third period, including one in the waning seconds.
Lopez notched a first-period takedown at 197 and never looked back en route to a dominant 5-1 score for his 11
th victory of the year.
Schrader put on a clinic and threatened to claim bonus points before taking the 8-3 win.
