Lancers Complete Trip at Bandon Dunes Championship

BANDON --- California Baptist University's men's golf team finished up the final round of the Bandon Dunes Championship on Tuesday, as the Lancers finished in 16th.
The Bandon Dunes Championship was hosted by the University of Idaho on the Bandon Dunes Resort – Pacific Dunes Course from March 8-10. The 54-hole event featured some of the nation's best teams, and the final round was televised on Collegegolftv.com.
CBU ended the three-day tournament with a 303-308-308=919 team score. Oregon State won the tournament after three straight days under par with an 11-under-par 841 team score. No. 12 Washington placed second with an 849 team score, and Oregon finished in third with an 854 team score.
The Lancers' 10 birdies during Tuesday's round marked the most by the team during the tournament. Ryan Monsalve held steady at T-63rd, finishing with an 11-over-par 77-72-75=224. John Hayes was behind Monsalve at T-79th with a 77-74-76=227, and Justin Cross shot a 74-81-79=234 to take 94th. Jacob Smith shot a 240 to take 98th, and James Mackie placed 99th with a 242.
Devon Bling of UCLA won the medalist honors with a 5-under-par 70-67-71=208 to win the event by one stroke.
The Lancers will compete next at The Goodwin hosted by Stanford on March 26-28 in Palo Alto.
