CBU Finishes in the Middle of the Pack on Day One

MCKINNEY, TX--- The California Baptist men's golf program opened its Western Athletic Conference Tournament run on Monday morning in McKinney, Texas, sitting in the middle of the pack. TL Brown's squad finished the first 18 holes in fourth place of seven teams, with Jared Abercrombie leading the Lancers in ninth place.
Ambercrombie started strong with three birdies through the first nine to be 1-under, but got caught up on the turn. He finished with a 74, behind five golfers who are tied for fourth. Kurtis Rodriguez finished his first round with a 73 and one birdie on the ninth hole, while Lorenzo Lombardozzi finished in 17th with five birdies. Andy Yang ended his first round with a 77, and Ka'ena Kaulia finished with an 81.
UT Arlington led the way on the opening day of the postseason tournament after finishing 4-over as a team. Abilene Christian finished behind by three strokes, while Tarleton State finished 10-over. Behind CBU are Utah Valley and Southern Utah, tied for fifth, and Utah Tech in seventh.
Round two will tee off tomorrow morning as California Baptist battles for its first-ever WAC Tournament Championship.
