Lancers Push Streak to Five Wins After Friday's Doubleheader

CLAREMONT - California Baptist University men's water polo extended its win streak to five-straight today with victories over George Washington (10-5) and Ottawa University (18-9). CBU improves its record to 7-8 overall while remaining 1-0 in conference play. George Washington drops to 6-7 and Ottawa falls to 9-8.
The Lancers dominated their doubleheader, logging 28 goals for the day. PJ McDonough led the team with seven goals between the two games, while he, Caleb Teraoka, and Zach Lowery all recorded hat tricks against Ottawa (AZ) in Friday's finale.
GAME ONE
The Lancers started their day against a George Washington team who had won four-straight coming into the game. The match began slowly but that turned in the second half when the Lancers found their footing.
Nine Lancers worked together to net 10 goals, leading to their victory over George Washington. The five-goal margin of victory is the largest in the series since CBU defeated the Colonials by a score of 16-7 in 2010.
GAME TWO
The Lancers controlled their game against Ottawa from the beginning, scoring 10 goals in the first half and adding another eight in the second half. McDonough led the team with five goals in the game, bringing his total to 18 during the Lancers current win streak. CBU goalkeepers combined to save 12 shots and make one steal during the doubleheader.
The Lancers are not finished yet as they have two more games before they finish the weekend slate. Saturday starts with Augustana at 9 a.m. followed by Chapman at 3:15 p.m.
