RIVERSIDE --- California Baptist University's STUNT team completed the sweep over Vanguard University on Friday night, as the Lancers beat the Lions, 18-6.
"Vanguard is an extraordinarily talented team, and it was an exciting series and a great way for our ladies to start the season off to 2-0," said head coach Brandon Seagondollar. "Our focus is always on being our best selves and improving each game."
It marked the second game of the season, as the two teams previously met for the Lancers' home opener on Wednesday night, in an 18-5 victory.
In the first quarter, the Lancers jumped out to a 4-2 lead after partner stunts and took advantage of the pyramid and tosses, going into the half up by four, 7-3.
With a 7-3 advantage, the Lancers exploded in the third quarter, taking a 10-4 lead after the jumps and tumbling rounds.
The Lancers put the Lions away in the final quarter of the game, outscoring the Lions, 8-2, to produce another double-digit win.
Madalynne Murray was the highest-rated player with a 66 on the night.
"This team is something special," Seagondollar added. "They strike fast, strike hard, and are always there for each other. They put their team first and always work for their why – which is to glorify God."
The Lancers will have a quick turnaround as they face William Jessup and Concordia on Saturday, Feb. 20, for the season's first doubleheader. The game against William Jessup is set for 11 a.m., while the Concordia game is set for 12:30 p.m.
