BOULDER CITY --- California Baptist University completed the final round of the Western Athletic Conference Championships on Sunday, as James Mackie finished as the runner-up with a 7-under-par 209 total.
It would come down to the final hole of the three-day event, as Mackie secured his 7-under-par finish with a 3-under-par 69 on the day. He would move into first after Gabe Lysen of Utah Valley doubled hole 11 and was tied with Mackie at the top spot. Lysen went on to birdie hole 16 and made par on the final two holes to take the one-stroke lead and claim the individual medalist honors.
Mackie records the highest finish by a Lancer at the WAC Championships since Dan Heron took T-6th in the 2018-19 season.
With five birdies on the card, Mackie's biggest birdie came on hole 16 when he made an incredible putt from way downtown.
