RIVERSIDE --- California Baptist University sporting events will be distributed nationwide through a partnership with ESPN as recently announced by the Western Athletic Conference. The new multi-year, multi-platform media rights agreement will have ESPN serve as the main distributor for CBU athletic events.
The deal between the WAC and ESPN will see over 500 events on ESPN+ and on the ESPN App on an annual basis. ESPN will also televise select regular-season men's basketball games and the championship game for the WAC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments on ESPN linear networks.
"The continued relationship with ESPN is key to our future success in growing CBU into a national brand," said Director of Athletics Tyler Mariucci. "This expanded partnership between the WAC and ESPN will enhance the viewing experience for Lancer Nation and expand the visibility of our programs through The Worldwide Leader in Sports."
"The WAC and ESPN have a long history together, and it's exciting to continue that relationship into the future,' said WAC commissioner Jeff Hurd. "ESPN remains the gold standard when it comes to sports, and this multi-year agreement will continue to assist in the WAC's growth nationally."
All home football and men's and women's basketball games will reside on ESPN platforms, as well as selected other events. The WAC will also produce and air over 70 championship events on ESPN+ in the upcoming year.
"As the WAC expands its fan base into new markets across the country, we're pleased to continue ESPN's association with the conference, which started more than three decades ago. With more than 500 annual events included in this new agreement, we look forward to showcasing the WAC's talented student-athletes and member institutions," said Dan Margulis, ESPN senior director, programming and acquisitions.
CBU Athletics will stream baseball, men's and women's basketball, softball, and volleyball on the ESPN+ platform. This will also include all home and away conference games, with the host institution producing each contest. The WAC Digital Network will still carry the broadcasts for international viewers only since ESPN+ is unavailable outside the U.S.
The latest broadcast information and links will be available on the respective schedule pages on CBULancers.com
