The Lancers will enter the series finale tomorrow in Texas with a 33-13 record. CBU is one win away from setting a new Division I era record for the most wins in a single season.
CBU moves to 9-2 in conference action, keeping the Lancers in first place.
Game one could be classified as a slugfest, as five combined home runs were hit in a game that saw 19 runs push across home plate. The Lancers scored first in the top of the second when Jordyn Madrigal narrowly missed out on her first collegiate home run as she settled for a two-run double off the wall instead.
UTA answered back in the third when a two-run home run leveled the score. One batter later, the Mavericks homered again, giving UTA a 3-2 lead. Then the Mavericks made it a 4-2 game with back-to-back-to-back home runs.
The Lancers countered with a home run of their own in the fourth, a solo shot off the bat of Kenzie Farrier-Pilon. Malachy Russell-Millen then struck for a three-run blast, giving CBU a 6-4 advantage. The lead was short-lived as UTA hit a three-run homer in the bottom half of the inning, putting them back on top. An RBI single in the fifth made it an 8-6 game.

Ashlee Annett tied the game in the sixth with an RBI single that pushed across a pair thanks to a UTA error. Emily Darwin, the pitcher of record, then gave herself some run support with an RBI single to put CBU on top. Insurance runs came in the seventh when Makayla Medellin drove in two to give the Lancers an 11-8 lead, a score that would eventually be the final total.
Medellin's two RBI performance gives her 45 for the season, matching the single-season record for RBI (DI era).
Darwin picked up the win in game one, her tenth of the season.

Game two was not the offensive onslaught that game one saw, as it was instead a pitcher's duel. Madalyn Martin got the start and logged six innings in the circle. Martin allowed two runs across seven hits with five strikeouts.
Arlington struck for a run in the second inning, and then the game went into a stoppage due to inclement weather in the area. After nearly an hour of stoppage, the game resumed. UTA added a second run in the sixth, giving them the eventual 2-0 final.
Farrier-Pilon totaled two of CBU's five hits in game two. She ended the day 5-for-7 at the dish. Medellin ended the day 4-for-8.
The series will conclude on Saturday with a single game. Saturday's action is scheduled for 10 a.m. (PT).
