CBU Battles Utah Valley; Griffin Earns Another Pin

RIVERSIDE--- The Lancers, battled the Utah Valley Wolverines on Friday night, following two battles against Iowa and Iowa State last weekend. The Wolverines came into the evening 1-0 with one champion at the Cowboy Open, while CBU was 1-3 before the match. The Wolverines defeated the Lancers 29-9, winning eight out of ten duals.
Peter Acciardi continued his promising start to the season with a 4-1 decision victory to net the first dual win for the Lancers on the night. Acciardi has one takedown and earned his riding time point to close the match over his opponent.

Elijah Griffin stole the show once again for the Lancers with his second fall of the season against Wolverines Kase Mauger at the 3:29 mark. Elijah Griffin entered the match as the reigning BIG 12 Wrestler of the Week and was ranked #23 in the 125 weight class.
The Lancers took two duals to multiple overtimes, with Chris Island and Hunter Leake falling shy by one point. Leake faced off against the 19th-ranked wrestler in Haiden Drury and battled him to a sixth and final period.
