LOS ANGELES – The sixth-seeded California Baptist University men's water polo opened up Western Water Polo Association tournament action against the three-seed UC San Diego. The Tritons used a fast start to build a lead they would keep throughout the match, winning 12-7 on Friday.
The first quarter got off to a slow start for the Lancers, conceding five goals before securing their first. When they did find the back of the net, they did so with back-to-back scores courtesy of Bohdi Bowden and Cameron Cullen. The Tritons would take a 7-4 advantage with them into halftime.
The Tritons would outscore the Lancers 5-3 in the second half before the final horn sounded. Goalkeeper Tristan Felberg stopped 10 shots on the day, his sixth time this season reaching the double-digit mark.
CBU will close out the WWPA tournament on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. The Lancers will face off with the fifth-seeded Air Force Falcons, a team that CBU faced on October 29 in Colorado, with the Falcons edging out a 16-14 victory.
