RIVERSIDE --- California Baptist University's cheer team has qualified a stunt team for the National Cheerleaders Association College National Championship in April.
"I'm incredibly proud to have this group represent CBU in the group stunt competition this year," said head coach Olivia Quick. "They have dedicated themselves to preparing their routine, and I'm excited to see them continue to progress their skills until the final competition in April."
In order to qualify, each group of four cheerleaders submits a video that shows the group competing in 45 seconds of non-stop stunting, demonstrating very advanced skills and against tough competition. A committee then judges all of the 34 submissions, and while scores are not released, the placements are posted, with the top-16 teams moving on to compete on the national stage.
The Lancers are currently ranked 10th out of 16 behind groups from the University of Louisville, the University of West Georgia, and Morehead State University. CBU won the group stunt competition in 2017 with a zero deduction routine.
CBU will be sending Julie Haas, Taylor Bruce, Regan Clark and Lauren Reid to Daytona Beach, Florida, on April 9th, which follows up the NCA College National Championship team competition.
