Argomaniz Leads CBU In Shutout of Southern Utah On Friday

SAN DIEGO – The California Baptist University softball team began its second tournament in as many weekends, this time at the Campbell/Cartier Classic hosted by San Diego State. The Lancers opened up play against Southern Utah, who is less than one-year away from joining the Western Athletic Conference, downing the Thunderbirds 3-0 to improve to 3-4 on the year.
Alyssa Argomaniz was dialed in from the start, striking out a career-high nine batters while recording the first shutout of her Lancer career. Argomaniz took a no-hitter into the fifth inning, ultimately allowing just four hits after seven innings of work.
Five Lancers each recorded a hit on Friday with Raegan Cheyne, Makayla Jordan, and Shelby Arbeiter each scoring a run. Arbeiter added an RBI to her line, making the most of her one plate appearance as a pinch hitter in the top of the third.

The Lancers will continue Campbell/Cartier Classic play on Saturday, facing off with CSUN at 9 a.m. and following it up with the first-ever tilt with Army at approximately 11:30 a.m.
