Lancers Close Out Weekend Perfect; Improve to 8-0

DALLAS --- California Baptist University's STUNT team produced another tournament sweep on Saturday, as the Lancers ended the Dallas Baptist Tournament with wins over Oklahoma Baptist and Oklahoma State.
CBU improves to 8-0 on the season and finish the Dallas Baptist Tournament a perfect 6-0 after taking down Texas, Texas Tech, Kentucky, Oklahoma Baptist, and Oklahoma State. The Lancers continue the program's win streak to 23 straight games.
Game One – Oklahoma Baptist
The Lancers picked up from where they left off in Saturday's first game against the Bison. It marked the closest game of the season, as the Lancers ended the first half up 6-3 over the Bison. The Lancers extended their lead to 11-3 after taking the third quarter in dominant fashion. The Bison produced seven points in the fourth quarter, but CBU closed out the game with a 17-10 victory.
It marked the fourth meeting between the two programs and was a rematch of the National Championship game, where the Lancers beat the Bison, 19-11, to take home the first-ever National Championship.
CBU is now 4-0 when facing Oklahoma Baptist.
Vanessa Copeland grabbed her fourth highest-rated player of the game with 81 points.
Game Two – Oklahoma State
In the final game of the tournament, the Lancers took care of business against Oklahoma State. The Lancers jumped out to a 4-1 lead in partner stunts and went into the half up 8-1.
It was smooth sailing from there, as the Lancers picked up a point in each round for the final two quarters to produce a perfect game, 21-3.
Vanessa Copeland capped off her weekend with her second straight highest-rated player of the game with 55 points.
"This weekend has been an amazing experience," said head coach Brandon Seagondollar. "These young ladies are trailblazers in this sport. They are letting the gifts God has given them show in their athletic ability, and I am honored and blessed to be their coach."
"After this weekend, I am feeling so overwhelmed with all the love and passion that surrounds this sport," said Copeland. "It was amazing seeing some of the STUNT programs across the country come together for this incredible tournament. I'm so proud of my team and coaches for the steadfast loyalty we shared to one another and our school. A huge thank you to all of our supporters that came out to Dallas. We can't wait to keep working hard and moving forward!"
The Lancers will get ready to host the home opener against Concordia – Irvine on Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m.
