Lancers Take Flight Over Eagles In Home Opener

RIVERSIDE --- California Baptist University's STUNT team hosted the home opener against Concordia – Irvine on Wednesday night, as the Lancers beat the Eagles in front of a packed-out Van Dyne Gym, 20-3.
It marked the fifth time the programs have met on the mat, as the Lancers improved their all-time series lead over the Eagles to 5-0. The win also improved the Lancers' record on the season to a perfect 9-0.
CBU was in true form all night, as the Lancers took an early 4-0 lead in partner stunts. The Lancers closed out the first half perfect, winning all four rounds in the second quarter of pyramid and tosses to take an 8-0 lead at the half.
The Lancers extended their lead in the third quarter to 11-3 in jumps and tumbling and followed that up with a perfect fourth quarter to take all nine points in the 20-3 victory.
Vanessa Copeland grabbed her sixth highest-rated player honor with 72 points on the night.
California Baptist will go back into tournament mode next week when they travel to the William Jessup Tournament on March 4-5. The Lancers will face Cal Poly, Sonoma State, Sacramento State, and Saint Mary's (CA).
