CBU Walks-Off CSUN In The Final Game of The Amy S. Harrison Classic

Mia Alvarez recorded the only multi-hit game of the day, going 2-for-3 with a run scored. Six other Lancers collected one hit apiece, with Karmyna Becerra collecting a pair of runs batted in and Nicole Stark plating one, in another successful pinch-hit opportunity.
Starting pitcher Jordan Schuring came away with a no-decision after a good showing in 5.1 innings pitched. She allowed just one earned run on five hits with five strikeouts. Alyssa Argomaniz came in to relieve Schuring in the top of the sixth, tossing 1.1 innings of no-hit ball and striking out one to earn her fifth win of the year.

The two teams sprinted through the first four innings, scoring no runs and recording just six hits before reaching the fifth. A Lancer error allowed the leadoff hitter to reach, eventually working her way to third, and scoring on a passed ball. The Lancers would answer immediately as Mia Alvarez singled to left, and was moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and ground out. Becerra connected for her only hit of the day, singling to left field to tie the game at one.
The Matadors would take back the lead in the next half inning after working a bases-loaded walk. Mailee Olsen led off the bottom half of the inning with her team-leading fifth double of the season, advancing to third via sacrifice bunt from Katelyn Mangrello. Coach Mike Smith went to his bench and brought in Stark to pinch-hit, and she came through. She laced a 2-2 pitch to the left center wall, scoring Olsen easily.

Argomaniz got into some trouble in the top of the seventh as the Matadors managed to get a runner on third with just one out. However, the sophomore induced a ground out to third, holding the runner before making the out, and then struck out the next hitter to end the inning.
With extra innings on the horizon, Sydney Soto stepped into the box and got a leadoff single down the left field line, taking second on a wild pitch in the next at-bat. Raegan Chaeyne sacrificed her to third, bringing up Becerra with just one out and the winning run 60 feet away.
Becerra swung on the first offering, sending it into foul territory just past first base. The CSUN right fielder came in a made the catch, pumped once, and then threw home to try to get the third out as Soto broke for home. The throw was on line but skipped in the dirt, hitting the Matador catcher square in the chest protector and rolling out to the middle of the infield where every Matador thought another would collect it. None did, and Soto recognized that, and scored the walk-off run without contest from CSUN.
