Lancers Make History During Prelims At The NCA/NDA College Nationals

DAYTONA BEACH --- California Baptist University's cheer and dance teams made history at the National Cheerleaders Association Collegiate Cheer Championship on Thursday.
The three-day event began with the preliminary rounds, as the Lancers advanced both teams in the Advanced All-Girl Division I and the Intermediate All-Girl Division I.
In the Advanced All-Girl, the Lancers put together a zero deduction 97.8519 performance to sit in first out of eight teams. Kennesaw State is in second with 97.1481 points, while the University of New Hampshire is in third with 96.6296 points. When it came to the Intermediate All-Girl competition, the Lancers swept the day with another first-place finish in the prelims with a zero deduction of 95.8519 points out of 14 teams. Florida A&M is in second with 93.7315 points, while Morgan State is in third with 93.3148 points.
"History was made today at the prelims, but the job isn't done just yet," said head coach Olivia Quick. "White and Blue both hit zero deduction routines, and I couldn't be more proud. We felt the support of the entire PGS family, and we will bring two more strong performances to the finals floor tomorrow."
It marks the first time the Lancers will advance two teams to the finals on Friday, and it's the first time both teams put together two zero deduction routines.
The Lancers will take the Band Shell stage on Friday, April 8, with the Advanced group at 2:24 p.m. PST and the Intermediate group at 4:20 p.m.
As for the dance team, the Lancers advanced all three teams (Pom, Jazz, and Spirit Rally) to the finals on Friday. In Pom, the Lancers took first out of 10 teams with 93 points and zero deductions. The Lancers finished fourth out of 18 teams in Jazz with 93 points, while Utah Valley took the top spot in prelims with 96.4 points. The Lancers finished third in the Spirit Rally with 88.45 points.
The dance team is set for its finals appearance with the Spirit Rally at 5:33 a.m., followed by Jazz at 7:54 a.m., and the day ends with Pom at 2:01 p.m. All times are Pacific.
