Lancers Claim Three National Championships at NCA/NDA College Nationals

DAYTONA BEACH --- California Baptist University's cheer and dance teams made more history at the NCA/NDA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championships on Friday, as the Lancers will bring home three championships to Riverside.
During Thursday's prelims, the Lancers made history after advancing both teams in the Advanced All-Girl and Intermediate All-Girl with first-place finishes.
California Baptist won the Division I Advanced All-Girl performance with its second-straight zero deduction routine for 97.963 points. The Lancers claimed the top spot over Kennesaw State, which finished second with 97.676 points. It marks the eighth NCA Championship for the Lancers.
When it came to the Division I Intermediate All-Girl competition, the Lancers won their first-ever championship in the event with a final score of 96.1133 points. The Lancers edged Morgan State, which placed second with 95.0579 points. It marks the first year the Lancers have brought two groups and the first-ever national championship in the event.
"I am amazed at what these student-athletes were able to accomplish this season," said head coach Olivia Quick. "Blue took on the Band Shell as if they never left and continued our excellence in the Advanced All-Girl DI Division. White had an unbelievable Nationals debut. We are proud to bring home two championship titles back to our university."
As for the dance team, the Lancers made more history in the Division I Pom competition, winning their first-ever NDA National Championship. The Lancers put together a zero deduction performance for 94.2571 points to take the top spot out of six teams.
"We are so excited to be making history and taking home our first NDA DI Pom National title," said head coach Kristy Kane Mapes. "This team has worked extremely hard all year, and I couldn't be more proud of their determination and resilience that led them to reach their goal."
The Lancers have one final team to finish the three-day event with Group Stunt on Saturday, April 9, at 10:49 a.m. Pacific time.
