
Kujanpää And Citherlet Finish WAC Championship Inside Top-10

BOULDER CITY --- California Baptist University men's golf closed out the final round of the WAC Championship on Sunday, as Eeli Kujanpää and Sean Citherlet both finished inside the top-10.
Kujanpää was electric in his final round, moving up 11 spots to claim T-8th after signing a 3-under-par 69 on the day. He finished the three-day tournament with a 1-under-par 71-75-69=215. It marks the sixth round in the 60's by the freshman and his 13th round of even-par or better. With today's round being his 13th round of even-par or better, Kujanpää moves into tied for sixth in the all-time record book for the single-season record of par or better.

Citherlet jumped up two spots on the day, shooting a 1-over-par 73 for an even-par 72-71-73=216 total to place T-10th. Luke Bartram moved up to T-33rd after posting a 7-over-par 72-78-73=223, while James Mackie placed 46th with a 15-over-par 77-73-81=231. John Hayes climbed up three spots and placed T-47th with a 16-over-par 77-78-77=232.
The three-day, 54-hole event was held at Boulder Creek Golf Club, as the 12 teams played on the par-72 7,482-yard course. With CBU in its final year of the transition process, the Lancers aren't eligible to post a team score in the standings. If they were, they would have posted a 17-over-par 881 team score, which would have placed them eighth out of the 12 teams.
As for the official team scores, Abilene Christian took over the top spot in the final round after finishing with a 7-under-par 857 team score. Sam Houston fell to second after a 5-over-par 293 team score on the final day to finish with a 6-under-par 858 team score. Grand Canyon placed third with a 3-under-par 861 team score, while NM State took fourth with a 2-under-par 862 team score.
Nathan Cogswell of Seattle U moved up four spots to take the individual medalist award after shooting a 9-under-par 73-67-67=207 to win by two strokes over the field.
