Lancers Close Out Regular Season with Top-10 Times at The Sound Meet

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO – California Baptist University track closed out its regular season at The Sound Meet on Friday at JSerra High School. Four Lancers ran on the night, with three coming away with top-10 times in program history, including a new record.
For the second time this season, Florian Le Pallec updated CBU's 5,000-meter record. He took fourth place in the race in 13 minutes, 41.75 seconds, which was more than four seconds faster than his previous Lancer record of 13:46.32 set at the Mt. SAC Relays.
Giedrius Valincius, Said Mechaal and Ivo Balabanov each ran in the 1500 meter to start the meet for CBU. All three broke 3:50 for the Lancers. Valincius took sixth place in a talented field, with a time of three minutes, 46.35 seconds, which was a top-six time ever recorded for the Lancers.
Mechaal took seventh place in 3:49.23, which ranks him in CBU's individual top-10 of the event. Balabanov placed ninth in 3:49.87.
CBU will wrap up its season at the Western Athletic Conference Championships. Seattle U will host the conference meet on Thursday, May 12 through Saturday, May 14.
