RIVERSIDE - California Baptist University men's soccer will battle through a tough schedule as it prepares to make its first run at a postseason berth and, for the first time in program history, will play host to the men's Western Athletic Conference tournament.
The 17-match schedule consists of eight away contests and nine home games. The Lancers are anxious to host visitors under the lights of the newly renovated 1,000-person capacity CBU Soccer Stadium.
CBU will open the season on Aug. 25 with a home tilt against the University of St. Thomas. The Lancers defeated the Tommies last year 4-1 in St. Paul, Minn. in their first-ever meeting.

The first road test of the season comes in game two as they travel to nearby UC Santa Barbara on Aug. 28. The Lancers will then head back home to prepare for two games, first against Gonzaga (Sept. 1) and then against the University of San Diego (Sept. 5).
The Lancers will then travel north to face-off with Pac-12 foe Cal on Sept. 10. The team will head back to Riverside to take on former Western Athletic Conference opponent CSU Bakersfield on Sept. 13, hoping to break the all-time series stalemate of 1-1.
CBU will then travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to face Oral Roberts on Sept. 17. They finish their non-conference slate at home with the Crosstown Showdown, this time hosting UC Riverside on Sept. 22.
WAC play begins with two huge road matches, as CBU will travel to the altitude of Colorado Springs to take on Air Force (Oct.7) before heading to Arizona to face Grand Canyon (Oct. 9). CBU downed the Falcons last season, 1-0 in overtime, while the 2021 regular season champion Lopes earned an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament.
The Lancers will be back in Riverside the next week to begin home conference play, beginning with Rio Grande Valley (Oct.13) followed by Houston Baptist University (Oct. 15). The Lancers defeated the Huskies last year in Houston 4-2.
The team will hit the road for two more games, first taking on San Jose State University (Oct.21). Then they will face the reigning WAC Tournament Champions in Seattle U. The Lancers defeated the Redhawks in the regular season, 2-1, in overtime.
The final two regular season home games will be against UNLV (Oct.28) and Utah Tech University (Oct.30). The Lancers found a lot of success against these two teams last season, going 3-0 against the Trailblazers and the Rebels, outscoring them by a combined score of 8-3.
One last road trip to Orem will close out the season, where the Lancers will face Utah Valley University on Nov. 4.
The Lancers will return to Riverside to begin preparations for hosting the conference tournament, set to be played Nov. 9, 11, and 13 at CBU Soccer Stadium. Game times and ticket pricing for the tournament will be provided later.
