Lancers In The Hunt After Day One At Golfweek Fall Challenge

PAWLEYS ISLAND --- California Baptist University's women's golf team kicked off the 2022-23 season at the Golfweek Fall Challenge on Sunday, as the Lancers finished the first round in eighth out of 20 teams.
Campbell University, Austin Peay State, and Lipscomb University all entered the clubhouse with a share of the lead after the first round with a 5-under-par 279 team score. UNCW finished fourth with a 2-over-par 286 team score, USC Upstate placed fifth with a 4-over-par 288 team score, and NM State and East Tennessee State T-6th with a 6-over-par 290 team score.
The Lancers finished their day with a 7-over-par 291 team score, as five strokes separate them from cracking the top 4.
Hailey Loh led the Lancers on the day, signing a 1-over-par 71 to finish T-21st. Esther Lee, Samantha Dizon, and Sofia Chabon all recorded a 2-over-par 73 to place T-32nd, while Damini Law Ghanshyani was right behind with a 3-over-par 74 to finish T-42nd.
Erica Scutt of Austin Peay and Praew Nontarux of USC Upstate finished as the day one leader with a 7-under-par 64 on the cards.
The Lancers will look to move up the leaderboard during the second round on Monday, Sept. 12, with a shotgun start set for 5:40 a.m. (PST).
