Big Weekend for CBU Wrestling Comes to a Close in Greely

GREELY--- The California Baptist University wrestling team wrapped up a busy weekend with a showdown with the Northern Colorado Bears. The Lancers were coming off their first-ever BIG 12 dual win as they defeated the Wyoming Cowboys 22-10 in Laramie on Saturday. The Bears controlled the match for most of the afternoon and came away with a 31-6 victory over the Lancers.

The Bears came into the match #9 in the mid-major wrestling polls and received significant votes in the NCAA top-25 poll. The Bears won their first BIG 12 contest after dropping their previous three to #23 West Virginia, Cal Poly, and #10 Oklahoma State.

The Bears featured three ranked wrestlers, including #16 Stevo Poulin, #30 Andrew Berreyesa, and #31 Vincent Zerban.

CBU claimed victory in two individual duals, with Frank Almaguer and Peter Acciardi being the victors. Almaguer registered four takedowns and earned his riding time point to defeat his opponent 10-4. Acciardi had two takedowns of his own, including a late one in the third period that sealed his victory. Acciardi was the lone Lancers to go undefeated on the weekend with two decision victories.
