RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist women's golf program is headed to Arkansas to compete in the Diamante Intercollegiate, a three-day tournament that will begin on Sunday. The Lancers are coming off a second-place finish at the Loyola Parkinson Invitational and a first individual win for true freshman Pusanisa Ekkantrong.
Marc Machado's squad already boasts two top-five finishes this season and a pair of individual champions. The Lancers will be looking for their first team win this season in Little Rock as they compete with Sofia Chabon, Samantha Dizon, Burberry Zhang, Damini Law Ghanshyani, and Ekkantrong. CBU has seen success with this group of golfers during the first event of the season, where the Lancers placed third overall, and Chabon walked away as the individual champion.
CBU last competed in the Diamante Intercollegiate, previously named the Little Rock Golf Classic, in 2019 and ended the three-day event in third place. The tournament is set to be played at the Diamante Country Club, an 18-hole course located in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Diamante Country Club is an award-winning par 72 course and is currently ranked fifth in the state of Arkansas.
For this tournament, Ekkantrong leads the way after her most recent individual win. Chabon, Ghanshyani, and Dizon have also made the event lineup for every fall tournament, as Dizon will be looking for her first individual win of the season. Zhang got her first taste of competing with CBU at the first event of the season and has made the travel roster again as the fall competition schedule comes to a close.
Live scoring for the event can be found here.
