CBU Finishes Fall Season at Kapolei Invitational

KAPOLEI, HI --- The California Baptist men's golf program finished their fall season in Hawaii at the Kapolei Invitational hosted by the University of Hawaii. The Lancers finished the tournament in 15th out of 19 teams and scored their lowest team cumulative team score of the season at 844.
T.L. Brown's squad started the tournament on the right foot, as all five golfers carded under-par through the first 18 holes. Eeli Kujanpää led the squad through the first round with a 3-under (69) mark and Fred Tindale scored a 2-under count. Sean Citherlet ended the first round 1-under and led the Lancers during the second, after he went 4-under (68).
Kurtis Rodriguez carded a 1-under score through the first 18 holes and finished strong during the last round, going 6-under par for the lowest score of the tournament for CBU. Tindale also finished well after he tallied a 5-under final mark and ended the tournament tied for 25th. Citherlet ended Kapolei with final score of 70, tying for 37th in the standings. Kujanpää ended the final round even with par and finished the tournament 3-under for 62nd place. Rodriguez completed Kapolei tied for 69th and Henri Nishiwaki ended in 106th.
California Baptist was ranked 7th in par fives and faired well against the toughest hole on the course. Brown's squad all scored even or under par on the 16th hole in the third round. The team finished with a 844 team score, the lowest of the fall season for CBU. The squad also added a few notable numbers to the record book, scoring the third lowest all-time team round score at 275 in the final round. The Lancers also amassed the second lowest 54-hole team score at 844, just 10 strokes away from the all-time lowest score.
The Lancers will start their spring season at the Wyoming Desert Classic in early February and play in five more tournaments before partaking in the Western Athletic Conference tournament in April in Payson, Arizona.
