The Lancers Prepare for Friday Night Basketball Against Jackson State

RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist University men's basketball team will look to begin its season 2-0 as they welcome in the Tigers of Jackson State on Friday.
The Lancers are coming off a 74-57 victory over San Francisco State on Monday night to claim their ninth home opening win in the past eleven seasons. CBU was led in scoring by San Bernardino Valley College transfer Dominique Daniels Jr., who posted 22 points on 6/9 shooting from the perimeter. Daniels's 22 points tied the DI program record for most points scored in a debut, and his six threes were the most in a single game since 2022 when Ty Rowell connected on eight triples in a win at Lamar University.

CBU also got significant contributions from freshman Tylen Riley, and Cal Poly transfer Brantly Stevenson, who combined for 23 points on seven made field goals.

Jackson State, meanwhile, is coming off a high-scoring defeat to Memphis on the road 94-77. JSU had four players in double-figures in the losing effort, led by Ken Evans Jr., who had 18 points and nine rebounds. The Tigers will play the University of San Diego tonight before heading north to Riverside on Friday.
The Lancers will look to make it 3-0 against Jackson State in the matchup history, having beaten them by a combined 36 points in the previous two meetings. In the most recent game, CBU won 77-64 in Riverside, led by a balanced offensive attack and five players in double-figures.
