
Day One of The Joust Halted for Darkness, Lancers In The Hunt in Second Place

JURUPA VALLEY – California Baptist University men's golf began hosting duties on Monday of the annual Joust Tournament at the beautiful Goose Creek Golf Course. CBU trailed only UC Irvine after the first round but fell behind a charging CSUN squad when play was halted at sunset.
The official score after day one is based on the completed first round that the Anteaters led, sitting atop the standings with a cumulative score of -5 (279). The Lancers were also under par in the first round, carding a -2 (282), with CSUN in third at -1 (283). The rest of the field in order was: Gonzaga (+1/285), Cal State Fullerton (+4/288), UC San Diego (+6/290), UC Riverside (+6/290), British Columbia (+9/293), Utah Tech (+17/301), La Verne (+22/306), Whittier (+22/306), Cal Lu (+27/311), and Chapman (+35/319).
Eeli Kujanpaa led the charge for CBU on day one, going 2-under in round one and starting round two with an eagle on his first hole. Luke had the low round of the day, carding a 3-under 68 after holing five birdies on the back nine.
Players will pick up on the hole they left first thing Monday morning and complete the second round. The scores will quickly be tallied, and pairings will be announced for round three immediately following the completion of round two.
