CBU Leaves No Doubt in Season Opener Against Grand Canyon

TEMPE, AZ – The California Baptist University STUNT team picked up right where they left off, dominating its 2023 season opener against GCU at the Arizona State Tournament.
CBU jumped to a dominating start in the opening quarter, as the Lancers swept partner stunts 4-0. The Lancers showed no signs of slowing down in the second quarter, as the team took all four rounds in the pyramid and tosses to go into the half up 8-0. The perfect game continued in the third quarter, as the Lancers dominated all four rounds in jumps and tumbling.
The Lancers were blanking the Lopes 15-0 before GCU decided to forfeit the match after the first round in the fourth quarter. The decision saved time and energy but took away the Lancers' opportunity for a perfect score of 21, something CBU did in 12 of 19 games in 2022.
The Lancers are back at it on Saturday, closing out the tournament with two more games. First, they take on the Firestorm of Arizona Christian at 7:00 a.m. Pacific before closing out against the event hosts, Arizona State, at 9:30 a.m.
