CBU Cheer Claims 11th Consecutive USA Collegiate Championship

ANAHEIM - California Baptist University's cheer and dance teams extended their incredible winning streak at the United Spirit Association Collegiate Championships last weekend, winning their 11th-consecutive USA Collegiate Championship along with their second-straight USA Spirit Nationals Game Day title.
"I am incredibly proud of these teams' performances this weekend. It was a great start to our competitive season", remarked Head Cheer Coach Olivia Quick after the competition. She added, "They represented our university well, and I'm excited to see how much more we can progress before NCA Nationals."
The Lancers took on a loaded field to claim the Game Day title, edging Washington State by one point, 94.00 to 93.00 for the Cougars. UC San Diego took third with 90.50 points in a category that ran 12 teams deep.
Later, Taylor Bruce, Lauren Reid, Carissa Santoyo, and McKina Stalheim led CBU to the College Group Stunt win. The foursome posted a score of 89.6667 to defeat the College of Southern Idaho (84.0000) and the University of Arizona (77.6667) for the title.
The Lancers also took the top spot in the Four-Year All Girl Show Cheer Intermediate category. Posting a 94.4000 final day score to best Cal State Stanislaus (91.9000), USC (89.0000), and Azusa Pacific (81.0000). The team's largest margin of victory in Anaheim was in the Four-Year All Girl Show Cheer competition, where they were the only team to post a score in the nineties at 94.1000. Waseda University (Japan) was second with 89.3000 points, followed by Sonoma State (85.3000) and Cal Poly Pomona (84.8000).
The Lancers had one runner-up finish which came in the College Cheer Band Chant Division, as Portland State took that title with 94.00 points while CBU posted 91.00, followed by Western Washington University at 89.00.
The Lancers will now shift focus to prepare for the NCA National Championships in Daytona Beach, Florida, April 6-8. CBU Cheer claimed two outright titles at the same competition last year.
