NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS – Coming off a pair of home wins earlier in the week against Colgate, the California Baptist University softball team hit the road to open up Western Athletic Conference play on Friday. The game was delayed a bit as recent storms in the area took their toll on the SFA Softball Field, but the home team would eventually collect the first conference win of the year with a 6-0 scoreline.
The Lady 'Jacks brought the big bats on Friday, tabbing six extra-base hits to propel them to victory. Three Lancers spread out three hits over the innings during the game but could not string them together to make a push.
Three CBU pitchers put in effort on Friday night, with starter Jazmine Castaneda getting tagged with just her second loss of the season. Castaneda, Morgan McConnell, and Carly Limosnero allowed six runs on eight hits, striking out a trio of 'Jacks.
The series will conclude on Saturday with a doubleheader that also got updated start times. Game one will now see a first pitch time of 11:00 a.m. Pacific, with the second game scheduled for 30 after the conclusion of the first.
