
Men’s Golf Opens Opens Play at 64th Annual Rutherford Intercollegiate

STATE COLLEGE, PA – California Baptist men's golf closed out the first two rounds of the Rutherford Intercollegiate in sole possession of fourth place at 5-over (573) in a small but stout, 12-team field. The Lancers led the field in par 3 scoring, averaging a day one best score of 3.13 on the four tricky short holes.
Valparaiso broke away from the group on day one, leading with 6-under (562), followed by the host program Penn State and Georgetown, tied for second at 1-under (567). The Lancers were next, with Rhode Island on their heels at 6-over (574).
Eeli Kujanpaa leads the Lancers after day one, finishing round one tied for the lead after carding a 4-under 67 to begin play. He dropped back into a tie for fourth after his second round on 1-over 72. John Hayes and James Mackie are on the edge of the top 20 amid a five-way tie for 21st at 2-over for day one.
Sean Citherlet has had up-and-down rounds, finishing his day in T36 with a 5-over par 147. Luke Bartram brings up the rear of the scoring Lancers, carding a 9-over 151 to begin the tournament. CBU has one individual also giving the Penn State home course a run as Sam Jenkins is currently T52 with his day one effort of 8-over par (150).
Round three begins at 9:00 a.m. local time, which is 6:00 a.m. Pacific time.
