
Women's Golf Within Striking Distance at WAC Championships Heading Into Final Round

BLAINE, WASH. –Day two of the Western Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championship concluded on Monday afternoon with California Baptist University taking sole possession of second place at 16-over (592), but also with Sam Houston beginning to pull away. The Bearkats finished the second round with an increased lead in the standings, coming in at 9-over (585) with just 18 holes left to play. New Mexico State rounds out the top-three teams, hot on the Lancers' heels at 17-over (593).
Four of the five Lancer golfers shot 2-over on Monday, with the fifth adding just one stroke to that for one of the more consistent TEAM rounds of the year. Lancer leader Hailey Loh remains in the top five individually, checking in at T4 at the end of 36 holes at 2-over (146), just two strokes off of the leader, Tsara Ralamboarison, from Southern Utah.
Damini Law Ghanshyani is in the top 10 at T7 with four other golfers after 3-over par (147), positioning her within striking distance of the title with a solid third round on Tuesday. Samantha Dizon and Sofia Chabon tied with each other in 13th place overall after Chabon turned in the lone 3-over par scorecard on the day for CBU, even while she pared the final 11 holes. Haruka Shintani made the biggest improvement day-over-day for the Lancers, bouncing back from Sunday's 78 with a 2-over 74 on Monday to head into the final round in T20 (152).
CBU will be part of the late group on Tuesday to close out the tournament, teeing off between 10:00 and 10:40 a.m.
