
CBU Lead by Shimmon to Top-10 Finish in Washington

LAKEWOOD, WA--- The California Baptist women's golf team headed to the Pacific Northwest to participate in the Pat Lesser Hartbottle Invitational hosted by Seattle U and came away with a seventh-place finish. True freshman Lisa Shimmon paced the Lancers through the two-day tournament, ending her second collegiate tournament tied for fourth place against 98 other golfers. The team's top-ten finish is the second of the season, placing well in a 17-team field.
Head Coach Marc Machado's squad showed well yet again this week in Washington, holding a top-five position through the first two rounds. Pusanisa Ekkantrong opened the first 18 holes strong, scoring a 68 (-4) to lead the Lancers. The sophomore ended the tournament in 12th after carding a -1 second round but tallying a 76 on the final 18 holes. Shimmon paced herself well during the tournament and went under par every round. The freshman shot 71, 70, and 71 for a top-five individual finish while securing a new program record by going -6 through the 36 holes.
Samantha Dizon ended her time at the Harbottle Invitational in 29th, with her best round coming during the first 18 holes, where she went even with par. Damini Law Ghanshyani finished in 59th, and Burberry Zhang ended the week in 67th.
California Baptist will now head to Illinois to compete in the Loyola Parkinson Invitational hosted by Loyola University Chicago from October 7th through October 8th.
