STOCKTON, CA--- The California Baptist men's golf team traveled to Northern California this week to compete in the Visit Stockton Invitational hosted by the University of Pacific. Junior Bryden Brown came out on top for the Lancers, carding an 11th-place finish during his first collegiate tournament. CBU finished tied for eighth as a team out of 15 programs competing.
TL Brown's squad kicked off their second tournament of the season strong as four Lancers shot under par during the first 18 holes. Jared Abercrombie led the squad with a 4-under first-round score, and Brown followed close behind with a 69. Brown would keep up his low scoring through the second round after carding another 2-under score before finishing the third round with another 69 for a very impressive first collegiate tournament outing.
Derek Lekkerkerk carded a 36th-place finish and saw his best 18 holes come during the first and second rounds, shooting even with par. Sean Citherlet and Abercrombie ended the week tied for 47th, while Eeli Kujanpaa ended his tournament run in 78th out of 90 golfers.
The Lancers will now turn their attention to the Leadership and Golf Collegiate Championship hosted by St. Mary's next week as they continue fall tournament play.
