RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist University wrestling team closed its 2024 home schedule strong with a pair of victories in a double dual against Cal State Bakersfield and Hofstra on Senior Night.
After the senior day celebration concluded, the Lancers dominated both duals, outscoring their opposition 60-17 on the evening. CBU claimed victory in 15 of the 20 total matches in the double dual and earned in bonus points in seven matches.
DUAL #1 vs. CSUB:
The afternoon began with a tilt against a familiar foe, the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners. The dual marked the tenth meeting of the two programs and the ninth straight season the two squads have matched up in a dual. The Lancers have now claimed two straight on the Roadrunners after defeating them 31-7.

The dual began at 133 lbs, with Hunter Leake giving CBU an early four points on a major decision over Santino Sanchez. The Lancers would earn decision victories from Darren Green and Dayne Morton in the next two bouts before a Chaz Hallmark technical fall would CBU a commanding 15-0 lead through four matches.

The Lancers would continue their winning ways in the next four bouts, with Nathan Haas and Peter Acciardi both bringing in bonus points for the home team. The Roadrunners would avoid the closeout by winning the final two matches of the dual to record the 31-7 final score.
DUAL #2 vs. Hofstra:
The Lancers battled the Hofstra Pride of the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association to close the evening. The Pride bested the Lancers in a tight dual in Hempstead, NY, a season ago in the first-ever meeting between the two programs. However, it was the Lancers who earned the dual win this time around by a score of 29-10.

CBU and Hofstra split the opening two matches, with #24 Elijah Griffin earning the technical fall for the Lancers and the Pride winning the 133lb bout by decision. The Lancers earned decision victories in each of the next five bouts to expand their lead to 17-3 heading into the back half of the dual.
The Pride would win two of the next three matches, but a pin registered by Nathan Haas would clinch the win for the Lancers in the 184-pound match. Hass was one of three wrestlers who competed in and won both of his duals on the evening, along with Green and Dayne Morton.
