RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist women's golf program makes its return to the course this weekend as they prepare to play in the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational hosted by Western Michigan. The Lancers are coming off an 11th-place finish at the San Diego State Classic, where they battled nine ranked squads.
The weekend's event will take place at the Rio Verde Country Club in Arizona in the foothills of the McDowell Mountains. The 36-hole walkable course spans 6,602 yards and is a par 72 course, complete with challenging fairways for all golfers. This will be the third time the Lancers will compete in the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational after they snagged a third-place finish of 18 teams last season.
Joining Head Coach Marc Machado on the desert course this weekend will be Samantha Dizon, Sofia Chabon, Esther Lee, Pusanisa Ekkantrong, and Burberry Zhang. Chabon has done well to lead the Lancers this season and finished well at the San Diego State Classic last week. The graduate student carded a top-35 place out of 63 players against some of the top teams in the NCAA. CBU will be looking for its first top-five finish of the spring season this weekend.
