RIVERSIDE--- The Van Dyne Gym was the place to be on Wednesday evening as the California Baptist Lancers hosted their first home game of the year against the Hope International Royals. CBU bested the Royals on home turf 24-1 in front of a full crowd in Riverside, improving their season record to 9-0.
The Lancers were strong from the start and flawlessly executed their routines through the third quarter, staving off the Royals from earning a single point. During the fourth quarter, CBU continued to dominate and only gave up one point to HIU during the pyramids and tosses section of the quarter. This is the fourth time this season the Lancers have given up just a single point during a game against an opponent. Layla Langrell led the Lancers with 66 points as she was named the Highest Rated Player of the Game, while Jordan Bruce and Alexandra Reynolds were named Tumbler and Stunter of the Game, respectively.
"The team's unparalleled performance illuminated the arena, sparking an electrifying energy that reverberated throughout the crowd," remarked Head Coach Brandon Seagondollar. "The unyielding support of the Lancer Nation uplifted our athletes to extraordinary heights, reminding us that together, we are unstoppable. As we bask in this glory, let us also give thanks to the Divine, for it is through His grace that we find the strength to achieve such remarkable feats."
California Baptist returns to the mat on March 1st through the 2nd as the Lancers head North to Rocklin, California, for the William Jessup STUNT Tournament.
