
Lancers Claim The Joust Championship After 3-0 Weekend

RIVERSIDE--- It was another perfect weekend for the California Baptist STUNT team as the Lancers hosted The Joust and welcomed four college squads to compete. CBU dealt losses to Cal Poly, Arizona State, and Hope Internation on their way to the top and secured a 17-0 overall record with just 20 days left in the season.
The action started on Friday evening after CBU welcomed Cal Poly to the Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler Event Center for the final match of the day. Bailee Henry posted yet another strong night on the mat and secured 81 points for the Highest-Rated Rated Player nod. Alexandra Reynolds and Jordan Bruce were named Stunter and Tumbler of the Game, respectively, as CBU took down the Mustangs 24-2.
Saturday opened with a game against Arizona State, where CBU posted a 23-2 final score for the squad's second win of the tournament. Henry was once again named Highest Rated Player for her 67 points, while Layla Langrell snagged Stunter of the Game and both Amanda Acosta and Jordan Bruce took home Tumbler of the Game titles.
After squeezing out a win from Kentucky in a tight 17-16 victory, Hope International stepped up to face the Lancers in The Joust championship match. For the second time this season, California Baptist defeated the Royals with a 24-3 final score as Michaela Grim came in clutch for CBU as the Highest Rated Player. Reynolds snagged her second Stunter of the Game title this weekend, while Abigail Eshelman was named Tumbler of the Game. Henry was also recognized after the championship game with a First-Team All-Tournament honor for her performance across three games. The Lancers have now beaten HIU four times in the last three years.
California Baptist is back in action on March 28th as they host Vanguard University at 7 p.m. in the Van Dyne Gym.
