
CBU STUNT Will Return to the Programs Fourth National Championship on Sunday Afternoon

LEXINGTON, KY--- The California Baptist STUNT program headed to Lexington, Kentucky, for the STUNT The Sport NCAA Division I National Championship tournament on Tuesday and opened the weekend with a pair of wins over the University of Central Arkansas and the University of Kentucky. The Lancers will now advance to the program's fourth championship on Sunday afternoon and will face the winner of Kentucky versus UT Martin.
California Baptist opened the first round with a 24-0 shutout over the Bears to kick off their 2024 championship campaign. Layla Langrell led the team to their first victory of the day with 56 points, while Ella Hodson was given the Stunter of the Game nod for her 53 points. Abigail Eshelman took home the Tumbler of the Game title as the Lancers cruised to the second round of the tournament.
California Baptist turned to face Kentucky in the weekend quarterfinals and took down the hosts 23-8, ensuring the championship match for CBU. Michaela Grim stood out as the Highest Rated Player after dominating with 69 points, while Ainsley Johnson and Jordan Bruce were named Stunter and Tumbler of the Game, respectively. The Wildcats managed to tally eight points during the contest, the most CBU has given up this season, but the Lancers were still able to secure the win with a 15-point deficit.
The national championship game will take place on Sunday at 3 p.m. (Noon PST) at the Clive M. Beck Center and fans can watch on FloCheer.
